Today I will be discussing Technology-Oriented Web sites which correlates directly with Table 1.1 in Chapter 1 of the text book. The website I will be discussing is called Tech Crunch. Tech Crunch would most commonly draw similarities to something like CNET.com as it is a website oriented towards consumers, however Tech Crunch would differentiate itself from a CNET.com in the fact that it is quite heavily geared towards IS professionals. Tech Crunch I believe is a very well rounded website in that fact that it covers all types of area in the tech field from entrepreneurs to startups or just gadget to green tech. Tech Crunch some may consider to be almost like a culture within the technology world. The website I believe is a great asset to people of all kinds in the tech field. With the fact that they cover start ups and promote green tech, they are a great resource of the latest and greatest things in the technology world. The website is designed to be visually stimulating, however it is not built on the newest technologies w/ media queries and responsive design. Instead it is built out separately for each specific device. Possibly something they may want to adjust somewhere down the road.
